The Mixed Race Belonging Collective
A community for mixed race folks where you’ll feel less alone, learn somatic strategies to feel at home in your body, and build skills to help you cultivate more relationships where you actually feel seen.
Get ready to feel safer in your body, more rooted in your identity, and have support to tap into for the moments that usually feel the hardest.
Let me guess…
You’re in your head all the time, wondering who you are, where you belong, and what to do when people don’t understand your experiences. And on top of that – you don’t have a support system you can really take these questions and concerns to.
Your multiple intersecting identities make you feel like you’re in a category of one. You’ve been on the frontlines all alone for a long time, and you’re tired of searching for the place where you’ll finally fit in.
At times, you’ve thought that shapeshifting to meet other people’s expectations of you would help you find belonging – but that was exhausting and only made you feel more alone. At other times, you’ve considered the lone wolf route, tried convincing yourself you’re better off alone, only to feel bad about yourself.
But you don’t need to go to either one of these extremes.
You need space to process your experiences with other mixed people, and somatic strategies that will help you feel more connected to yourself and others.
That’s when you’ll be able to cultivate more relationships where you actually feel seen.
It’s time to say buh-bye to all the mental spiraling and reacting out of fear, and embrace an embodied approach so that you can feel grounded and centered in who you are.
When you make this shift, you will:
Feel safe in your body instead of feeling pulled into a spinning vortex of anxiety when someone asks about your racial identity.
Be able to enjoy socializing even when you’re the only person who looks like you in the room.
Be able to build more relationships that reinforce the felt sense of belonging, without ignoring your own needs.
Be able to set - and hold - boundaries with the people who don’t fully see, hear, or accept you.
Be able to take in the support you do have without rejecting it out of habit, fear that it won’t last, or concern about being a burden.
Become a co-conspirator in building cultures where people feel like they belong instead of waiting on the sidelines to get called in.

Monthly Workshops
Each month, I teach a workshop on a topic related to embodiment, belonging, and mixed identity. I also facilitate 1-2 exercises or practices you can incorporate into your own life and we’ll discuss the experience as a group. I always post the replay by the end of the week so you can catch it later if you can’t attend live or rewatch as many times as you need!
Monthly Practice + Connect Space
You’ll also be able to attend a monthly group call, where you’ll be guided through a somatic practice related to the month’s workshop, get to ask questions around what’s not landing or where you’re struggling, and talk more with community members about the topic we’re exploring.
Quarterly Get Rooted Retreats
Every three months (around the winter + summer solstice and fall + spring equinox) I host a pop-up retreat for our community - a spacious 3-4 hours to get to know other community members and be guided through nurturing activities like yoga, self-massage, meaningful crafts, writing poetry, and more.
Discounted Deep Dive Calls
Whenever you need some focused TLC, you can book discounted 60-minute Deep Dive calls with me. We’ll process real-life challenges you’re dealing with (emotions, relationships, other situations). We’ll work through any obstacles you’re facing while implementing the skills. You’ll walk away from these sessions feeling more grounded and confident.

Hi friends
I’m Raina (she/her).
I struggled with belonging for most of my childhood and early adulthood. I always had friends, but I never really felt secure in those friendships or calm in new situations until I found somatics.
That journey started when I began practicing yoga, and then became a teacher myself, and it continued once I went back to school to become a therapist and trained as a somatic-oriented trauma therapist.
During the racial uprisings of 2020 I saw a huge need for more spaces that spoke to the experience of multiracial and multicultural people and I began to work towards the offerings that are now housed within Mixed Race Belonging.
The Collective is a space I would have benefitted tremendously from at many points in my life. I created this community because for years I’ve seen the power of somatics in helping people heal relational, racial, and colonial wounds, and I know first-hand how transformative building relationships with other mixed people is. Inside the Mixed Race Belonging Collective,, you get to do both.
I can’t wait to have you join our community!
The main curriculum inside the Mixed Race Belonging Collective comes from my tried and testing Belonging Building Blocks program. Here’s how that curriculum impacted past participants:
From settling to bravely taking steps towards more fulfilling relationships
Before working with me, Katy (Filipina & Irish) had already started doing some great healing work around her relationships.
She was practicing setting boundaries...but then she would often waffle on them. She was scared of asserting her boundaries or letting go of relationships because what if she was “supposed” to just work with what was going on?
When I talked about somatics of belonging in Belonging Building Blocks, Katy says this CRACKED OPEN this other way to think about the world that she hadn’t had before; it gave her an entirely different vantage point to think about her relationships.
When I taught the group how to attune to your body’s wisdom, Katy realized she had internalized the concept of accepting people for who they were in a way where she was abandoning her own intuition and needs.
Because of the work we did on restoring her body’s belonging blueprint, she ended up walking away from a relationship where she had been feeling unsatisfied for a long time and set new goals for how she wanted to deepen her relationship with herself and her community.

How my client took her previous identity work even deeper
My client had participated in a different group program for mixed people and was able to explore her identity in depth, but she still felt physically activated all the time.
Even though she’d explored her identity, she couldn’t shake the fear of being misunderstood. Every question or comment about her racial background would send her into a spiral, It was hard for her to trust anyone with her feelings.
In Belonging Building Blocks, I helped her build skills for addressing that underlying activation by coming into relationship with her body, unpacking the stories it was still hanging on to, and learning somatic strategies to feel more grounded.
As a result, she became more adventurous in her social life and joined a women’s circle without any hesitations. She stopped feeling so preoccupied with noticing what made her different, and started sharing more of her feelings and struggles with other people so that she could actually be supported by them.

How one participant realized they weren’t so different afterall
One participant (white & Cambodian) joined Belonging Building Blocks because they’d known for a while that they’d never had a feeling of belonging, and that being mixed was a big part of that equation.
When the group first started, they honestly felt pretty overwhelmed and afraid to participate. They wanted to dive in and be a part of the group, but it brought up old and familiar feelings of being an outsider, being “separate” from others.
Over the course of Belonging Building Blocks, as they watched other people in the group, they realized that they were among others who had also felt like outsiders. In their own words, “Raina’s ability to validate everyone’s experiences was comforting and encouraging,” and it increased their comfort with naming some of their own experiences, asking questions when they were confused, and sharing about how they experienced the exercises.
Opening themself up in this way increased their sense of belonging with the group. And this experience, in turn, helped them gain more awareness of how they approach group settings and how they can support themselves in more intentionally integrating into groups instead of assuming a “separate” position.

The Mixed Race Belonging Collective is right for you if…
It’s hard to feel comfortable in your own skin and you want that to change
You feel stuck in a pattern of avoidance or people-pleasing and need insight
You are open to actually connecting with other people. During our calls I request that camera are on because we are doing relational work, but there will be times when you are more than welcome to be off camera so that you don't feel too "perceived" :) Most people end up liking this set up, because you really do feel more connected to others when you can see them - and it tends to help folks practice “unmasking” so you can show up more fully as yourself everywhere you go.
You want to develop the relational skills needed to move the collective toward liberation — BBB is an explicitly anti-racist, access-oriented, pro-Black, pro-queer, pro-trans, pro-sex worker space.
You’re curious about how a somatic approach can help you get unstuck after years of talk therapy and reading self-help books
You have some basic skills in taking care of yourself should you feel overwhelmed during our sessions

You will like this program if you like an experiential approach. We will be engaging with different somatic exercises in an experimental way to get you more connected to your body and to others. This process is incredibly special and rewarding, and can feel quite vulnerable at times. You are of course in choice the whole time about which exercises you do and don’t want to try.

When you sign up you’ll fill out a brief intake form. The questions I ask on that intake helps me make sure everyone is a good fit for this membership. Usually, there are no issues, but if I’m not sure, I’ll reach out to schedule a call with you.

MRB has previously welcomed participants from places such as the UK and Canada. I’m happy to welcome you no matter where you are, while holding the truth that race and the mixed race experience varies from region-to-region.

The Mixed Race Belonging Collective is a skills-focused program that comes with the added benefit of learning these skills in community with other mixed folks. In 1:1 coaching, Bold Belonging, you do learn skills, but we also go deep to get to the root of your belonging wound (kind of like you might in a therapeutic setting) and you identify a belonging project that you want to accomplish as part of our time together.

Once you pay for your first month you’ll be able to schedule a free 15-minute call with me. If you feel it’s important to connect with me before paying, you can email me raina@mixedracebelonging.com and share your situation.
